Johnathan R. Bassett
Attorney at Law raised in Emmett, with appellate, prosecutor, and judicial-clerkship experience across Idaho courts.
Born and raised in Emmett, Idaho, Johnathan R. Bassett is a proud father with a love of the law, a passion for providing exceptional legal representation, and an understanding of the people, values, and way of life that make Idaho great.
After graduating from Emmett High School and welcoming his first two daughters, John earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Boise State University. He used that degree working with juvenile and adult clients in both correctional settings and with those on probation and parole, ultimately contributing to the development of a statewide reentry program.
Pursuing his dream of becoming an attorney, John attended the University of Idaho College of Law. During law school, he gained experience with the Idaho Court of Appeals, the Idaho Attorney General’s Office Natural Resources Division, and the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office. His academic work earned him dean’s list recognition and the Pro Bono Service with Distinction Award, and he also welcomed two more daughters to his family during that time.
After obtaining his Juris Doctor degree, John served as a judicial law clerk for Judge Jessica M. Lorello on the Idaho Court of Appeals. He has continued volunteering through the Idaho High School Mock Trial program and by mentoring students pursuing legal careers.
Outside the courtroom, you will likely find John spending time with his four daughters exploring Idaho’s natural beauty or at the kids’ sporting events. He also enjoys working on classic cars and getting out to play the occasional round of golf.
